Five tips for an easier start at daycare
The first days at daycare are a big step for children and parents alike. A few tried-and-tested tips to soften the transition.

The first days in a new place are a big step for a child — and often an even bigger one for parents. Here are five tips that have proved most useful for us.
1. Start gradually
On the first day, stay together for just an hour or two. Then extend the time at daycare day by day.
2. Keep goodbyes short
A long goodbye tells a child something is wrong. A hug, a smile and “see you after lunch” are enough.
3. Bring a piece of home
A favourite soft toy or blanket helps a child feel safe sooner.
4. Keep the home rhythm
Similar nap and meal times at home and at daycare make adjusting easier.
5. Trust us
Every child needs their own time. Some settle in within days, others within weeks — both are perfectly fine.
We will tell you every day how it went, so you will always know how your child is doing.
